Egbunike
The Kwara State Accountant General who doubles as the chairman of the Amateur Athletics of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulkareem Tunde, has commended the initiative and decision of Innocent Egbunike to start an athletics development programme in the country.
While receiving the Kwara State Sports Development committee in his office, he said, "I am glad that Innocent Egbunike had considered Kwara State for this athletics development programme. We are happy because it will give our kids hope and a level playing ground to rule the world. This is only possible in sports."
He added, "With the recent development of the Ilorin stadium by the Dr. Bukola Saraki administration, the coming of the Egbunike project makes us as a people proud. With an 8-lane track, we are ready to host local, national and international competitions here."
Tunde, a former athlete added, "Kwara used to be number three when Nigeria was 12 states. Our athletes were poached, environment become unconducive, athlete welfare should be upper most in administrators' minds etc"
"We will do our best to make the Kwara State government to support this project to a successful point. We will work extra hard to ensure that our kids benefit from this programme.
If as a society we refuse to develop these kids in sports, they will become the boko harams of tomorrow. If we develop this programme, the kids benefitting would become the kings and queens of the world," he submitted.
Responding, the Sports Adviser to the governor, Toyin Olokooba said, "when the news got to us of the choice of Kwara by Egbunike, we were ecstatic. The governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, is fully awaiting this project to commence because it falls within the youth development vision of this administration. It is coming at a time we were looking for hope. Egbunike is bringing hope here."

God bless Innocent Egbunike. I am so happy that after all the kids in Kwara State will benefit. I am not shocked with this brilliant decision. See the performance of Kwara's kids at the All African Games in Maputo where Susan Ideh, coach Taju Suleiman, Fatima Azeez, and Tosin Atolagbe are in the badminton first gold medal.
Please can you please let us have the details of the Egbunike project. I can imagine what will be at stake in terms of a brilliant future.
    Kwarans, you are lucky.
