Okonjo-Iweala hijacks Presidential sports retreat

*Imports American to conduct affairs
*That’s how she brought KPMG in pension
Iweala: floodgate of sports cash for American friends?
I can reveal with authority that the Minister of Finance, Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has hijacked the Presidential sports retreat to one of her American consultancies, McEnzie with an eye to use the latter to make good money for herself.
GongNews checks revealed that the American firm is responsible for the list of invitees and how the retreat will be conducted. They have kept the theme and speakers to themselves. The National Sports Commission (NSC) are as good as mere onlookers.
They determined the sports stakeholders to be invited. As at the time of writing this report, the same jobbers who took Nigerian sports to the nadir form the bulk of those who have gotten the invitation.
Attempts to find out how much McEnzie were paid have not yielded results. A source said it is in the six digit Dollars.
Key agents of the drive for a change in the modules and delivery of sports in the country are not involved in the entire process. Even the only football authority in the country, though with an illegal persona, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is not on the list of invitees. So who drives the issues on football management?
A former Nigerian international athlete and acrid critic of the current system of administration of sports in the country was reached for his comment, he pleaded for anonymity but said, “I am not surprised with this fact you have just told me. I am not invited. Those I have checked with also told me they had not yet been invited.”
He added, “the woman may have imported her World Bank experts to just come, speak grammar and be paid heavily. That was what she did when she brought KPMG to audit the work of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT). The KPMG were paid so handsomely. The PRTT that did the job does not have a dime. I heard the President ordered the PRTT to be paid some monies, instead, the woman refused to approve or release the fund but she paid KPMG with speed.”
A Nigerian sports consultant based in the United Kingdom, Mike Moneke in his reaction said, “what is the link of the Minister of Finance and sports? Where was she all the while? As far as she was concerned, this is another room for her to bring her American experts to make some good money at the expense of the nation’s sports. It is so sad.”

  1. Why must we always throw stone at the fruitful tree? In the midst of the gloom in the nation, this woman has shone brightly restoring the economic fortune of the nation. This is definitely another attempt to make her look bad in the eyes of Nigeria. It will surely fail.

  2. I think the writer of this story has just succeeded in parading his ignorance of issues and processes. KPMG is one of the best auditing firm in the world with global reputation for outstanding job. The fact that she goes for the best firm around doesn't mean she has a stake in the company. She is a woman of excellence and she will surely go for excellence. Those spreading this satanic allegation are definitely quacks who have lost out in the process!

  3. Another gutter journalism! This is one of the antics and tactics of those who are bent on retaining the old corrupt way of doing things. Nigerians know that Iweala is for Nigerian.

  4. Presidential Retreat: I brought the Americans not Iweala - Abdullahi

    Abdullahi...putting the records straight
In minutes, my phone was almost blowing up. My e-mail has streamed again so wild with responses. Anger in its original quality against our leaders is the summary. I have heard in the last 30 minutes so many unprintable things about our leaders. Incidentally, the Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission (NSC), Bolaji Abdullahi called too to put the records straight.
His words: “you are my friend. As a journalist, I do not expect you to trade in rumour mongering. I brought McKinsey and not the Finance Minister. Iweala was only trying to help us. Its like you have you own agenda against the woman. I wish you will have the fear of God.”
