NIGERIA GETS TWO FOOTBALL ASSOCIATIONS

Maigari, NFF President...Fresh controversy dogs his board
Nigeria has landed in a new football controversy. She may end up having two Football Association boards. This is coming against the back heel of the press statement issued and signed by Mr. Harrison Jalla as the facilitator of a new direction to the long controversy that has docked the nation;s football.
According to the statement, “I am directed to inform the Sporting media by Football Stakeholders that an already constituted interim Board of the Nigeria Football Association would be formally presented to the media on Saturday the 21st of May in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory.
Consequent upon the fact that elections into the Board of the NFA was nullified on the 6th of September, 2010 by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Lagos and fresh elections have not been held since then and coupled with the fact that the illegal Alhaji Aminu Maigari’s Board says they are the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). The laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has no place for any organisation called the NFF.
The Nigeria Football Association was created by a military decree in 1992 converted to an Act of parliament in 1999 when the 3rd Republic emerged.
The illegal Aminu Maigari’s board has deposed to several affidavits in Courts that they are not NFA that they are NFF. This has created a vacuum that stakeholders of football in Nigeria has filled with the constitution of an interim board as advocated by Article 7 of FIFA statues which calls for a normalisation committee when there is a logjam and in accordance with the NFA 2004 Statutes pending when fresh elections would be held.
Waiting for further developments.
